My family tree is on Ancestry, but I often refer to FamilySearch for several reasons.
- It can be helpful if I've hit a brick wall. Sometimes I'm able to break through and find one or more possible generations I didn't have in my tree. I can research and verify if they are actually related to me by using Ancestry and other sources.
- The Research Wiki, found in the "Search" drop-down menu, is used to search by place or topic. A guide directs you to links related to your search or topic.
- "Famous Relatives" is found in the drop-down menu in the "Activities" tab. It provides another way to possibly add people to my tree. As always, everyone has to be researched and verified. My children aren't particularly interested in genealogy, but they do enjoy hearing about their famous relatives.
- Leaders (this category previously included kings and other royalty)
- Inventors and Scientists
- Entertainers and Artists
- Trailblazers
- Athletes
Over several years, I found 101 possible famous relatives. As of 1 July 2026, I have verified 29 of them. Others couldn't be verified due to missing information. Some didn't work because the information was incorrect, or dates and other facts didn't match what I had already verified in my tree. I will update this page periodically.
I rearranged the categories and made them more specific.
- Presidents, First Ladies, (American) Statesmen
- Kings/Queens, Royals, Statesmen
- Inventors, Movers & Shakers, Scientists
- Authors, Artists, Musicians
- Actors, Athletes, Entertainers
